HISTORY OF SCRABBLE.

In 1938, American architect Alfred Mosher Butts created the game as a variation on

an earlier word game he invented called Lexiko. The two games had the same set of

letter tiles, whose distributions and point values Butts worked out by performing a

frequency analysis of letters from various sources, including The New York Times.

The new game, which he called "Criss-Crosswords", added the 15×15 gameboard

and the crossword-style game play. He manufactured a few sets himself, but was not

successful in selling the game to any major game manufacturers of the day.


In 1948, James Brunot,a resident of Newtown, Connecticut – and one of the few

owners of the original Criss-Crosswords game – bought the rights to manufacture

the game in exchange for granting Butts a royalty on every unit sold. Though he left

most of the game (including the distribution of letters) unchanged, Brunot slightly

rearranged the "premium" squares of the board and simplified the rules; he also

changed the name of the game to "Scrabble", a real word which means "to scratch

frantically". In 1949, Brunot and his family made sets in a converted former

schoolhouse in Dodgingtown, a section of Newtown. They made 2,400 sets that year,

but lost money. According to legend, Scrabble's big break came in 1952 when

Jack Straus, president of Macy's, played the game on vacation. Upon returning from

vacation, he was surprised to find that his store did not carry the game. He placed a

large order and within a year, everyone had to have one.


In 1952, unable to meet demand himself, Brunot sold manufacturing rights to Long

Island-based Selchow and Righter, one of the manufacturers who, like Parker

Brothers and Milton Bradley Company, had previously rejected the game. In its

second year as a Selchow and Righter-built product, nearly four million sets were sold.


Selchow and Righter bought the trademark to the game in 1972. JW Spears

began selling the game in Australia and the UK on January 19, 1955. The company is

now a subsidiary of Mattel. In 1986, Selchow and Righter was sold to Coleco,

which soon after went bankrupt. Hasbro purchased the company's assets, including

Scrabble and Parcheesi.


In 1984, Scrabble was turned into a daytime game show on NBC. Scrabble ran from

July 1984 to March 1990, with a second run from January to June 1993. The

show was hosted by Chuck Woolery. The show's tagline promotional broadcasts

was, "Every man dies; not every man truly Scrabbles." In 2011, a new TV

variation of Scrabble, called Scrabble Showdown, aired on The Hub cable channel,

which is a joint venture of Discovery Communications, Inc. and Hasbro.

Scrabble was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2004.

DESCRPITION OF AM – GM SCRABBLE CLUB PROGRAM.

Here we have another great program under the concept (AM – GM) Active Mind – Genius

Mind. The SCRABBLE CLUB, a game of words used as an educational tool to increase mental

agility and alertness, analytical and mathematical faculties,concentration,increase their

vocabulary and ability to retain the spelling of new words.

At AM – GM, we have designed a curriculum and methods for kids to have fun all the

time during scrabble club classes because soon the kids start to associate Scrabble with

excessive boredom, they shut themselves off from enjoying it, which obviously stop the

process to greatly and fast learning through AM – GM SCRABBLE club. We believe to make

scrabble a game that brings a smile to the face of every kid in our club. Not only will

this increase a child’s academic performance, it will make the day of kids a lot more

delightful.

One of the major advantages of Scrabble by (AM – GM) Active Mind – Genius Mind is

the way in which it is able to increase students’ academic performance. For instance,over

the time teachers and parents will see a remarkable improvement in the word spelling of

kids, especially those kids who have difficulty spelling. This game challenges kids to learn

new words, and specific ways to implement them in the formation of sentences.

Scrabble by (AM – GM) Active Mind – Genius Mind increases a child’s creative ability

to create new words from the letters provided to them. Children will find the game fun and

engaging while they attempt to create different words than the ones already used on the

board. The excitement children experience while playing the game increases when they start

to score more points and win multiple games. This competitiveness encourages children to

think faster than their competitors. Clearly, Scrabble increases a child’s analytical and

mathematical faculties. Along with improving spelling and vocabulary skills,kids learn

basic arithmetic by tallying points associated with each letter combination. Children have

to employ simple addition and multiplication methods to find out the total number of points

associated with each word creation. As a result of this calculation, children improve

their mathematical skills.

It also improves a child’s ability to retain the spelling of new words and their vocabulary.

Children who play Scrabble often display increased memory, concentration, and critical thinking

skills. All of these skills contribute to the overall personal growth and development of any

child. This game also increased mental agility and alertness. Our program is designed to

accommodate and run after-school activities in schools. Along with our regular classes and

courses that follow our curriculum from the beginner to advance level.

AM – GM with its well designed and structured curriculum for kids of age 4 to above,

uses variety of resources that help kids obtain the most from Scrabble.Children will

start with common words and vocabulary lists to start expanding their skill levels

as they progress. Children will also use dictionaries to search for unfamiliar words.

This will instill a sense of confidence and achievement in their endeavors.

SCRABBLE CLUB AS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM & CLASSES in schools.

Active Mind – Genius Mind (AM-GM) with the scrabble club runs as an after-school

club or activity for kids from 4 years old to above.


The program and curriculum from the beginner to advance level is designed

and adjusted for 45 mins - 1.5 hr classes, between 2pm - 4 pm in schools.

Our ECA/ASA SCRABBLE CLUB will definitely increase kids vocabulary, their academic

performances and the club day to be lot more delightful for them


It would be better to have 3 age groups separated for the classes:

4-7

8-10

11 and above


Lesson will go according to the school calendar or ECA/ASA calendar.

A small competition will conclude the term.

here is the philosophy and spirit we use to run our AM – GM SCRABBLE camp.

Our scrabble comes with various activities surrounding the words game, all together

with exceptional and extreme fun Our scrabble camp improves a child’s ability to retain

the spelling of new words and their vocabulary.

Children who play Scrabble often display increased memory, concentration,

and critical thinking skills. All of these skills contribute to the overall personal growth

and development of any child. This game also increased mental agility and alertness.

SCRABBLE BIRTHDAY PARTY.

Each party is set to meet your need based on your location and number of children and

the sort of activities needed. Time ranges is from 1 to 3 hours. We can manage groups

up to adult from the range as below: (Ages 4 – 7) (Ages 8-10) (Ages 11 – 16) (age 17 – above)


PACKAGE DETAIL

We will provide 1-2 INSTRUCTORS based on the party size.


SCRABBLE GAME SET will be PROVIDED BY US.


A team of 2 – 4 kids and adult for 1 SET will be formed to play with during the party.


The instructors will come up with various exciting activities.


Our charge starts with a minimum of 10 kids

1) 3000 baht for a package of 10 kids, for 1 - 2 hours the session for the birthday party.

2) 4500 baht for a package of 10 kids, for 3 hours the session for the birthday party.

3) 4500 baht for a package of 15 kids, for 1 - 2 hours the session for the birthday party.

4) 6000 baht for a package of 15 kids, for 3 hours the session for the birthday party.

5) 6000 baht for a package of 20 kids, for 1 - 2 hours the session for the birthday party.
